The form I used was DD FORM 149. At which time when they sent me corrected DD Form 215 with the awards. I believe it was for me about 6 - 7 months.

Amazingly got my DD214 updated, Had no medals from Vietnam and the Bronze Star that was originnally sent me about a year after I got back from Vietnam had the wrong serial number as the last two numbers were reversed. Sent info for correction and got back in just couple of months!!!Sent me another Bronze Star! Also added Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars. Also stated awarded the RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.

As FO for D 4/31,I knew how important it was to get the artillery on the way ASAP, so as XO of C 3/82, I “procured” another radio and monitored the FO/FDC net.  When an FO called in a mission, I had my guns ready for the command to fire.  One time an FO called in a mission and I heard “all hell breaking loose on his end”.  The guns were ready and loaded and I was waiting for the command to fire.  After a bit, the FO is screaming for the artillery to the FDC, so I called the FDO and asked him about my command to fire.  The FDO said they were waiting on “political clearance”.  I said as loud as I could, “POLITICAL CLEARANCE, HELL; FIRE!!”  My guns fired.  The FDO said “you can’t do that.”  My reply...

Hi All,
I just wanted to pass on a little info in case some of you were not aware of this.

May 23rd, 2012 was the Air force Academy graduation ceremony. My friend from Texas had just arrived and we drove down the road to watch the Thunderbirds air show after the ceremony was finished. Most of you know Pres. Obama spoke at the ceremony and handed out the diploma's. When this finished it was time for the Thunderbirds to fly. There was one maneuver then they disappeared. A man standing by me called a friend at Peterson Field and found out that the air show was halted because Obama wanted to leave. A helicopter soon...

I did not remember his name but thought the timing was wrong.
We were coming off LZ West to the West and night laager. Found an enemy mortar tube. Have picture of it with Co Lt. Griffin. We got resupplied and took off down the rest of the mountain when VC was spotted in our night laager where we got resupplied going threw what we left behind. We were then in a small village shearching the hooches. I called in a fire mission but was to close for the artillery and they gave to the 81 mortars. As I was told person dropped the mortar in the tube before he was told to fire and tried to catch the mortar. But fell and came out, he lost his thumb. Defected the mortar and landed in one of the hoohes which Wade was in searching. which he than cam...

I have a note from a Paul Knowles.
"I am trying to research a soldier who served with D Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment between 4th November 1967 until he was killed on the 18th June 1968 in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam. His name is Nathaniel Wade from Augusta, Georgia, and I understand he may have been killed as a result of 'friendly fire'
I fully appreciate that you may not wish to be reminded or indeed feel the need to respond to a stranger about your time in Vietnam. I am just trying to keep Nathaniel Wades name alive and any information about where he served during his time with D Company would be most helpful. "

I do not recall him and if anyone can help, Paul would like to hear from you.

I find it disturbing that filing for PTSD puts you on alert for gun control.

As a Veteran we are now labeled a terrorist

Those who want to claim that there is no "Veterans Disarmament Act" ignore, first of all, that up to 140,000 veterans have ALREADY BEEN DISARMED by using twisted interpretations of the federal code. That figure was released on August 1 by Congress' own research team -- the Congressional Research Service.

Here is a message passed on to me original from Lt. General Sam Wetzel:

I am writing the book of my life which began in 1930 when I was born in Clarksburg, WV. At this moment I have finished my life from birth, during the Depression, WW II, Korean War etc.and I am now up to 1968 in Vietnam. It will go later to the day I retired in 1986. and some time afterward. Since I am now 80 I thought I better get going with it if I am going to finish it.

Here is what I need your help with during the period from 23 July 1968 to 10 January 1969 and your recollections will be mentioned by name and rank in the book.Just during that period.

I have the Americal Newspaper write up of the Nui Chom Battle, but I want to get more specific ...

I was offered promotion to Captain, but had to extend and knew I would be right back in Nam. My wife told me if I did she would divorce me so they gave me early out with another three years in the reserves to finish my commitment as officer. Sad to say end up in divorce anyways.....
But have great family now and going on 34 years of marriage with great wife.
