Frenchie's assumption is right, at least based on my experience. I use my VA card at Lowes and have always received the veterans discount. |

I use the VA club card at Lowes and Home Despot for the discount. They even honered it on the purchase of 3600 bucks worth of composite decking along with a 20% discount but that had to be okayed by the manager. The big break was from the decking manufacturer so the store was only on the hook for 15%. |

Hey guys I also use my VA card at Lowes and always when I travel at any and all Hotels. Just ask them for the military rate and the VA ID works well. It is usually their best rate. Steve R Owens A 3/21 196 1971 |

Lloyd, I wouldn't purchase an ID card. It really has no legal standing, although some people may accept it.
Every veteran is eligible to get a FREE ID card when they register with the Veteran's Administration. Go to any VA medical facility and tell them you want to register. They will tell you how to do it.
Any Vietnam veteran should also register on the Agent Orange database. You should be able to do that at the same time as registering with the VA. It entitles you to a free medical exam every year.
Your VA registration ID can be used anywhere they offer a veteran's discount. |

I went to Home Depot yesterday to purchase a compact refrigerator for my grandson. I showed them my Dept of Vateran Affairs card for Tri Care treatment and they now ONLY accept them if the card has printed on it

The lady was nice and still gave me the 10% discount |

James, where are you at? The local Home Despot here in my part of Washington state honors pretty much everything veteran. They even put the discount in just by looking at my 196th hat before I can whip out the VA card. Looked it up on google and did find that some HD stores are looking to create a database with your info..screw them on that one! Lowe's also gives the discount with no requirements locally too.
In actuality, both HD and L's were only giving that discount on veteran related holidays in the beginning but they are so competitive they are doing it all the time in most places.
I did find some rumblings about Lowes doing a little of the limiting as well but they will stop if a few of us pitch a bitch online. |

You know how they will honor competitors coupons? I've used a Harbor Freight 20% off coupon at HD before. It was for a Generac Generator. |

Well the was just told by Home Depot in Houston that I can not get Veteran Discount, only certain days (Holiday) Discount is for active, retired and disabled only....
Here is “The Home Depot’s” veteran/military discount policy, along with the type of IDs needed to verify eligibility.
All military personnel and veterans are eligible for a 10% discount at all The Home Depot store locations during national holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th and Veterans Day.
Additionally, the 10% discount is available to active and reserve military personnel, retired or disabled veterans and their spouses or dependent children, every day, upon request.
To receive the everyday discount, we ask customers to present one of the following IDs to verify eligibility:
· Common Access Card (CAC is a standard identification card issued to active duty and reserve personnel)
· United States Uniformed Services Privilege and Identification Card:
o Tan - Dependent of active duty member or retiree
o Red - Retired reservist and reservist dependent
o Blue - Retiree
· A VA Medical Center “Veteran Identification Card” (it MUST state “Service Connected”)
The maximum for both 10% discounts is $500 on a single-receipt purchase at The Home Depot U.S. stores only and cannot be applied to installation products or services, Gift Cards, special buy appliances or in addition to any other offers. The discount is not available for online purchases.

Tell them next time, thats okay, Lowes would obvoiusly love to have my business anyway.
Used to be in the change of address cards available at the Post Office there would be a coupon for 10% off at Lowes.
You notice alot of that stuff on Ebay too. |

The last change of address I did in December to have my mail sent to Florida for the winter still had the 10% discount card for Lowes. Every time I go to Lowes, I request a vets discount and show them my VA ID card. They always honor it. |
