I got a call from Doc Eder today and got update. He is doing much better, gained some weight , but still has feeding tube. I have not been able to get up to see him yet. He will not be able to make the reunion, so I said will be up to have our private reunion. His wife is now on FB (Debra Eder) with picture of him and her.  He thanks all who have been praying for him and wish for me to pass it on

Our platoon medic was a conscientious objector. He was a great guy, and was unafraid of anything, but he wouldn't carry a weapon. He got wounded on Nui Ba Den when we were ambushed in November 1966.
It would be nice to find him sometime. "Doc" Jenkins.

Ken;
Was he sent home after Nui Ba Den?
I remember a medic who was a concientious objector but he was at Chu Lai. I don't remember his name but he was a brave guy. He did carry a weapon (carbine) but would fight only in defense of a patient. He was a blood and a respected medic.
Could that be Jenkins?

We had a doc who was a CO too.  He was killed in late June while treating a guy.  The 30 cal MG round were popping around and them and caught his patient's St Chis medal then about tore his breast off and another caught doc through & through the neck.  Bled out on the evac.  Doc was a tall skinny light skinned bro & wore granny glasses.  Very conscientious guy and ballsy beyond belief.

Hotel28,
Unlikely that the medic you are refering to was Jenkins. He would not carry any weapon. He did return to the Company after Nui Ba Den, but I'm not sure if he went north to Chu Lai when the Brigade moved.

Doc Pot was at the reunion, tall guy in the Panama hat.  He is a ballsy hippy guy &  was treating Frank Eates for gsw in the thigh and got his eye shot out.  Patched his eye quickly and then finished patching Frank before they were both medivaced.

Whoops, got it bass-ackwards, Doc finished patching up Frank then patched his eye.
