co. 3/21 I was there....there's a book called "The Flower Of The

Dragon"....seems accurate to me."</i>

Thanx for

giving me the HeadsUp on "The Flower Of The Dragon" - a Very

good read - excellent historical perspective. Boyle, the writer went to LZ

Center right after Alpha started their stand-down and went back out with

Message I joined the 3/82 the first of the year in 71 and worked as a medic with all of

the Batterys at one time or another and they all had the new guns at that

time. I know that some of the ARVN units were using the old split trail guns

at that time. Hope this helps. Where are all the 3/82nd guys? I don't see

many using this site.

Message Bill Russell, When the Bde moved north in Oct 67 we replaced the 1st Bde

of the 101st. They had M102 howitzers and were on LZ Center just prior to

our occupation. That may be where the photos came from. My DEROS

was the month after yours and when I left there were no plans to convert to

M102's. If anyone out there knows if the 3/82d FA converted, I too would

like to know. As units departed country at some point the 3/82d could well

have turned their M101's over to ARVN & picked up M102's.
