Message it is with deep respect and grief that I must inform you of the death at 2pm

Feb.14 of SGT DENNIS COLLINS ..... who retired with the rank of SGT.

MAJOR ...... he was the platoon SGT. of the 4th platoon 2/1 B CO. (of

cancer).... he was one on the now called BOAT people from FORT

DEVENS . MASS .. he attened some of our reunions ..... and was like a

father to his platoon .... he said he would bring us .4th platooners all home

..and he did ..... may he rest in well deserved peace .... I for one will...

Message John Daukulis- Were you on LZ Center-mortors. I was with A/3/21 69-70.

Had a good friend in the field-Monty Harris,same Pl. diffrent squad. He

findly got on the Hill in mortors about the time I got a job in the rear with

Alpha supply. When I took supply to the field would stay with Monty in his

bunker on Center.<br> Also thank you for the good words about the

Company-people don't know if they wern't there(August 24, 1969). Alpha

and everyone in it were the real deal.From March to September 34 KIA.

Message I remember Hill 251 (Operation &quot;Elk Canyon&quot;); E 2/1 Recon; Jan

1970; Plt was all draftees except for Green Beret LT and E7 Plt Sgt; from

Hawk Hill to Hill 251 and &quot;jacks&quot; during the day and Claymore

ambushes at night; very good friend got killed on bunker line duty on

251around March 70; Gary Lee Burkett, heck of a good man from OK; I still

think about his unfortunate death. Life is always changing and in state of

flux, but it goes on; but the memories are always static and never change.

Message Sorry to report that one of our brothers, Andy McEvoy, passed away on

January 29th. He served with &quot;A&quot; Battery, 3rd of the 82nd

Artillery from September 1965 to July 1967. He will be truly missed by

many of his 196th brothers.
