Message the tower was used to test a sighting device for the artillery. it was a laser

beam computer with a large set of binoculars with a range of 50 km in

daylight and 25 km at night. the quad 50's were located on the right side of

the hill facing northwest, i know because im the one who picked theie

location. we also had another 50 cas due north from the point of the hill. im

Message Doss Kornegay came after Deam; Point man Scott stepped on a BT-bomb

that killed him, Deam was right behind him & wounded (I carried him

to the medivac bird), 3 others were wounded; that left us with7 in our

Recon.. eerie..I took point and we cut and hacked our way up 251; BTs

were so bad that we stayed off paths..my memory is we abondoned 251

because of the high rate of casualities from Boobie Traps..Saw Doss at

Message I know I am crazy, but I didn't think I was wrong. I have pictures of when we

NL on 251. I have pictures of C Company on perimeter duty when it was

OP 251 (Quad 50, inside tower). I have pictures of when I was there in

June. My favorite is where I am baking a pie (I had whole eggs - also in the

picture). I have a tape recording of doing a beacon drop one night. One

thing I am not so proud of was calling artillery on recon when they set off

our sensors. Sorry Doss and the rest of Recon.

Message thank you mcgee! the recon plt was attached to my unit for about six weeks.

they had an outstanding plt. ldr. who was a good friend of mine. lt. dan

dean. we performed many night ambushes in those days. remember when

lt. deam stepped on a booby trap attached to a 500lb bomb?? and when

he removed his weight from the trap it never went off!!! he just stood there

and finished his cigarette.
