Message I was in the 196th LIB from 10/70 to 10/71 in Chu Lai and Da Nang, South

Vietnam. I believe I was in Charlie Company 2nd Platoon, 1st Battalion. I

was a squad leader for most of my time in the "bush" and a

platoon sergeant for a very short while. However, for better or worse, I

immediately put the "War" behind me and I don't remember

much about the people I served with.

Message Jim Stone, I read the article online about getting the purple heart for PTSD

and I also was apalled. I was wounded at 19 years of age while on ambush

outside Tay Ninh base camp in Jan. 67' from a mortar attack on us and I

rolled my sleeve down and covered it and my mouth up. My father was

wounded with a rifle shot in WW II and I sure as hell was not going to take a

Purple Heart for a scratch!I received no medals other than good conduct

and that was good enough for me.Semper Primus D/2/1 SgtMarty
