Message My wife and I spent from 9/2 thru 9/10 on the Big Island of Hawaii. stayed

at the Army Recreation facility at Ft. Derusi. While there we went to Ft

Schafter to visit the 196th Inf.Bde. We were received by CSM Uncangco

and the whole command staff. hey was very cordial and entertained us for

more than an hour and a half seeking information on the original unit from

Ft. Devens to Viet Nam. They are requesting any photos,news stories or

memorabellia for their display. I recomend a visit if in Hi.

Message 42 yrs. ago tonight about 0100hrs. short artillery rnds. from our arty landed

in the battalion cp area on the first night of our first operation. Remember

in your prayers Capt. John Harrington and Sp4 Manzie Glover who were kia

and Chaplain Bill Feaster who lost his leg and died a few weeks later.

Remember too those who were wounded that night.<br>Hard to believe

that so many years have gone by but the memories never go
