Message Joe, I met Ron Essler on LZ center when I was assigined to my unit D 4/31,

We spent 2 days up there because of bad weather, I always thought Ron

was sent to Delta like I was. He told me he was from Minnesota and was

reasigned to the 196th from 175 Engrs. I got out to my unit late afternoon

on the 22nd. So the 23rd was my 1st full day with the company. I was in the

3rd platoon and we were walking through the village at Hill 63 early

morning, the initial contact happened about 10 to 15 yards

Message William Eddie Morgan & Ron Morenz (reference # 131, 132, and 198).

Here is my recollection of "The Thanksgiving Day Battle". As

"Green Seeds" from the 175th Engineers ( Tommy Atkins, Dan

Burris, and Ron Essler and I) we went to C co. Early in the Morning (23rd)

we moved forward. Essler went to the village. I and others went up and

secured a hill. After 0800, thereabouts all hell broke out in the village

below. On returning to the CP I saw NVA kneeling and being interrogated.
