Message Jim Stone (Stoney) and Michael Smith

My father told me the same

that when he arrived on LZ Center in November 67, there was very little on

LZ Center, with a lot of work to improve the positions, etc. By the way, do

any of you have any photos from those early days on LZ Center? If so, could

you email them to me to pete"at" It would be

greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Pete

Message Looking for anyone who was assigned to B 1-1 Cav during Lam Son 719. I

was Team Leader of Recon Team 2, E Co 1/11 infantry, 1/5. On March 18,

1971 CPT Carlos Proveda and his men pulled my team out after we were

serounded. My team of 4 men were then OPCON to the CPT. We fought in

that area for a week and one of my guys was KIA when we started back into

the wood line. Please contact me at

Message Michael Smith, thanks for the post. I thought I was maybe dreaming in my

memory but mine is the same as yours. When A Co. 3/21 moved onto the

hill there was pretty much nothing. You could tell guys had been there from

a few prone positions and such but not much else. We were on the south

east part of the hill on Thanksgiving and I still have my dinner menu, what

a crock. Anyway thats what we did for the first few times of rotation on

Center. We built bunkers and improved positions. Stoney

Message Catching up with you guys on the LZ Center discussion. I moved onto

Center with B Battery mid November 67. There was almost nothing where

we placed the 105's, there was the 155 unit up the hill from us, but it didn't

appear that they had been there too long. We worked building bunkers and

such constantly for several weeks. Not much of a change in construction

after our initial surge getting protection built. I came home in April 68, the

pictures I've seen from later on sure look different.
