Message Steve Pennington - The 87th Infantry was never a part of the 196th. I

checked what was available to me and the 87th Infantry Division was never

in Vietnam. None of the battalions of the 87th Infantry Regiment were in

Vietnam, either. If you have some contrary info you would like to share,

please send it to me at president196th"at" and I'll try

to steer you in the right direction.

Message Thank you "Frenchie" I forgot about that website. I posted on

there some years ago. First I wanted to say thank you all for your service. I

am trying to find any information on the battle he died in. It might be hard

as he was in country for only 3 weeks which I can guess wost mostly

inprocessing and from what I understand he was in the bush for only 3 days

when he took a hit from a mortar and died while waiting for a dust off. You
