Message I was in A 3/21 3rd plt. In 68 we usually got three or four beers and maybe a

couple sodas. You could trade one soda for four beers until the soda ran

out then the guys who didn't like beer would give it to the guys who did. It

wasn't too good hot and all but it was wet and sure beat the swamp water

we had to drink. We drank a little too much one nite and got hit. Never

made that mistake again. It was kind of harry. Stoney

Message I became supply sgt, either in May or early June 1969. It didn't take me

long to realize that there was a lot of stuff we needed in the field... clothes,

BEER, and other necessities. I traded boots, poncho liners, ak47s, &

other items to the Marines & CBs for new clothes, better rations... and

Budwiser beer! I traded ak47s for 200 pairs of socks and bvds, of which we

had none. I spent my time in the field & always wanted to support my

guys who were there. God bless all of you. <br>Sgt. Bill Davis

Message Hey Warren WATCH it PRES' I am an ORIGINAL - was with C 2/1 in AIT

went to D 2/1. I'm from Belleville, NJ which borders on Newark NJ. There

was a bunch of us in C 2/1 during basic from Belleville and North Newark.

Ballantine was made in the Down-Neck area of Newark NOT Downtown. I

did not drink Ballantine since it was the long-time sponsor of the NY

Yankees (their announcer Mel Allen was always sloshed by the 7th inning

back in the '50/60's) and I am a Professional YANKEE HATER.
