An article on VA Watchdog today reads Agent Orange related to Kidney Cancer.  I had a cancerous kidney removed in 2007. I applied for disiability and was turned down, maybe that will change now. Has anybody else out there had Kidney cancer

Larry:  Bummer.  One more legacy from your service.
No specific info from me, but Google has many hits.  One is: http://www.thanhniennews.com/2010/Pages/20110517131856.aspx
A vet named Peter Carpenter was instrumental in getting CLL on the list and the National Veterans Legal Services Progam is a great source of information.
Keep us informed.

Larry,  also try Military.com.  They provide frequent updates on items of interest to active duty, retired military and veterans. You have to sign up for it, but it is free and they send you e-mails  on a regular basis.  Best of luck to you and let us know how you make out.

The important thing is to document the Cancer with the VA. I can speak from experience Summer 2002 I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the mouth. VA said thanks for your service but it is not on the list , Nam came back to bite me. I am now rated @ 100%  PTSD for the last (4) years.

Larry:  Can we have an update on your experiences with kidney cancer?
I was interested in your post at the time, but now have been diagnosed with seriously diminished kidney function.
Kind of piques one's concern!

Jim, I am doing pretty good. My only kidney now is in Stage 4 failure. They had to remove my good kidney, that was the one with the tumor. They put me on 2000 MG of sodium a day and 57 Grams of protien. My numbers haven't changed much in 5 1/2 years, which is good. 5 blood pressure meds. a day to keep my pressure around 120 over 70. That is the biggest problem with a bad kidney, high blood pressure. It is tough to do, but better than dialysis. I see my kidney doctor every 6 months with blood work.
Hope this helps Jim. If need anymore information let me know.
