The 196th Honor Roll (accessable from the HOME page) has just been updated through the efforts of Joe Mahoney. The list by Company and Battalion has been posted on the website, and the other lists will be updated shortly. If you believe any of the information on the newly posted list is incorrect, or leaves someone off, please start a THREAD with that person's name as the SUBJECT. Joe will research the archives to see if that person was in the 196th and what unit they were assigned to. If we cannot resolve the unit, but you have first-hand information that the casualty was a member of the 196th, we will add them to our Honor Roll. |

There have been five new corrections to the Honor Roll, after investigation by Joe Mahoney. Gerald Bordeau moved to C, 2/1 Edward Merritt moved to C, 2/1 Alfred Sevenski moved to C, 2/1 John Frankel moved to C, 3/21 Sisto Bojorquez moved to A, 4/31 |

I wonder if anyone else remembers Gerald Bourdeau (I think that is the correct spelling). For 44 years I have "remembered" holding his head and trying to comfort him as he bled out from a femoral artery. There were at least three medics trying their best to clamp it off, but it was just too high and deep. After looking today at the various resources about his death, I can not think of any way my memories of that day agree with the date, November 5, 1966. That was a date with many KIA's on a terrible day in Attleboro, but my memories are of a calm day along a quiet road. I would appreciate any input. |

Sorry, Gerald Bourdeau is spelled correctly on the Honor Roll. I misspelled it in the above post. |

I would like to acknowledge Ken McKenzie for all of HIS hard work maintaining this web site and the Honor Roll. Also I want to express my gratitude to Bruce Swander and the other five people who are updating the Coffelt Data Base. They are checking 58,000+ names and scanning in Death Certificates, Condolence Letters, DA2496’s and Casualty Reports etc. How these people can find time to answer my questions astounds me. |

I agree with you, Joe. Its a very difficult and overbearing task that must take a lot of time. We owe Ken and the others involved a big debt of gratitude. It is important that the Honor Roll be as accurately maintained as possible. |
