Yes that’s me.     Fort Jackson. I did end up spending time in the rear typing the morning report and other office functions. Tillman, 6’6” was the company clerk but didn’t type as well as play basketball. I did eventually become the company clerk. While in the rear I spent many days as a door gunner when they needed me. I also did sometime as radio operator for the battalion amongst other things. I was part of a convoy from DaNang to PhuBi through Hue.
I got to know the command sergeant major very well but cannot remember his name.     brady.d48@gmail.com
I also remember surviving the typhoon in a bunker on top of the ridge.

My wife sent a three foot high artificial Christmas tree that four of us carried pieces and assembled in the bush on December 25th.—complete with decorations.     She also sent a canned ham that we cooked with C4.
Lt.     Vermillion and the     rest of us discovered an underground hospital. The same     day we took fire from an American M60. (The bad guys were shooting.)

In your photo array your caption reads,     LtVe...

LT     Vermillion and/or White, both WestPoint grads. Vermillion’s goal was to return to WestPoint and teach English. White’s goal was SIA.
I was the RTO for both newbie’s, fresh from WestPoint. Both trusted me to call arty. Both were gung-ho,     intelligent, and eager to profess a long career culminating with the rank of General. Our Battalion Commander was Rocco and our battalion sergeant was a command     sergeant major.
