yes, i m from Ca but basic training was not at Fort Ord....a bunch of us from my town were drafted at the same time and traveled together to SF and then to Ft Lewis...id say there were 20 of us.....we ended up in the same platoon.....mostly so one day we are at the rifle range....i didnt do great but i passed (i think everyone passes no matter what) lol.....
so we are done with the shooting.....the Drill Sergeant barks something like: ANYONE FROM CALIFORRRRNIA WITH A DRIVERS LICENSE? I HEAR EVERY)ONE IN CALIFORRRRRNIA DRIVES.
well, let me first say that i had made up my mind before basic that i would be invisible and not volunteer for anything......so a bunch of them California drivers raise the hands up....im sure they figured they would be driving a General around base or drive a deuce and a half or a golf cart or just drive..so they raise their hands very high......all pumped up at the prospect of driving around all day....... so the DI points to a pile of garden rakes!!!!!! and barks with a smirk..... DRIVE THESE AROUND UNTIL THE RIFLE RANGE GROUNDS ARE FLAT/LEVEL ....YOU CALIFORNIANS MESSED UP MY RIIIIIIFLE RANGE>>>>>DONT FORGET THE BRASS !!!!
drummmmmmmmmm rolllllllll
