in trying to find out about the Chinese/Vietnamese conflict building up im reading that China admitted having 320 000 troops supporting the North Vietnamese
http://eyedrd.org/2012/07/china-sent-320000-troops-in-vietnam-war-and-4000-dead.html
I have no idea how old this is ......while looking this up i read that the Chinese troops never crossed the DMZ....im sure they did...just like when my unit was in Laos ..they told us back then but now it's denied over and over. I never saw a dead chinese soldier over there.....anyone seen any? |

Not that it mattters but when was that. We were in the Camp Evans area (north of Hue?) in March 1968. What youre diescribing is very possible. After all they had to have "Advisers" there like we did.

In the Fall of 1969 on a Hawk Hill AO night ambush, our squad produced a single enemy casualty - "they" said the next day when we swept the area and checked the body that the papers he had indicated he was a Chinese advisor. All I know it was the only 6 ft tall gook I ever saw! |

Frenchie. That was around May of 68 when we supported the Marines. I was at LZ Baldy and heard it. I was told that some of the enemy KIA were very tall like 6 Ft or so. Keep in mind i never saw it myself. Just heard about it. But i did think it was true. |

I believe it too...after we all know we had advisers in nam prior to the full scale war and we all know we were in Laos and didnt admit (CIA etc) so why couldnt the Chinese be in the South as advisors?
Around April 68 our battalion (4/31) was around Camp Evans for a few weeks and that may very well be the same situation you are referring to. Never heard nor saw 6ft gooks..i do remember riding around in APCs..the one and only time we did that and i do recall getting rocketed when we were on the runway on the runway waiting for a ride back to Baldy/Hiep Duc |

A little gentle criticism guys. the war is over and we do not need to continue de-humanizing them, or any Asians, with the racial slur "gooks"!
thanks! |
