Sometimes i know i am post way too often and i think guys get "annoyed" by it ...however, when i see THIS headline the hair on the back of my neck stands up
A fatal wait: Veterans languish and die on a VA hospital's secret list
I dont care what party is in charge in Wash. D.C. This sort of thing is totally unacceptable. Dont want to or cant take care of Vets? DONT GO TO WAR. I have a friend right now who has been waiting for MONTHS to get eye surgery. I can see a line forming due to our age and cataracts issue come but......send them to the private sector if VA does not have enough doctors
WTF guys survive the war but get killed by our own VA??????? thats what it amounts to.. Im no rocket scientist but something DIFFERENT needs to be done....
Probably wont matter but we owe it to each other to contact federal representative and express our outrage over this issue...
read the ugly details here http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/23/health/veterans-dying-health-care-delays/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 |

Frenchie: A very interesting and disturbing article. Any large enterprise, and the VA health system is huge, has shortcomings. It is difficult to maintain facilities, staffing levels and other vital components. What is outrageous here is the lying and the seeming conspiracy to mislead their own bosses and Congress. Those administrators should be in the forefront of striving for improvement, not covering their own asses. I will pass that on to my Congressman and Senators. Thanks |

Jim, very well put. Frenchie, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I haven't heard anything about it other than your posting. This, also, is very disturbing. You would think there would be much more media coverage. |

The ONLY thing ive read is what OTHER veterans have sent me AFTER i found it on CNN.... It snuck in under the radar.
They need to fix this now. It is repulsive. Guys, make a call monday morning...tell your fellow vets...clearly not everyone is aware of this matter. |

The media is trying to keep it under wraps. Not political here but it is getting close to mid-term elections. And the current admin wants nothing to look bad. This is a travesty that our brothers are dieing while waiting for the care that they deserve. Reminds me of the VA care in the 70's to 90's. |

Jim: im sure that youre right about Mid Term elections. However i am suggesting today that this is something they have been hiding this for a while......hasnt just happened in the recent weeks....i am saying its been going on way before this mid term election.....probably years. |

Frenchie. That is why i mentioned the VA care of years ago. My step father was shot twice in WWII. He had an open wound on his shin, never healed. The care he got was deplorable. They acted like it was his fault. He was hospitalized a few times in the late 80's. I would drive my mother to the hospital and i could see the care that was given. He often told of the lousy care. It has gotten better but not where it should be. |

looks to me its the mindset over there.....in fairness i have to say whether its my hearing test or blood tests or diabetes ive gotten great care but THEN i have a buddy who needs cataract surgery and they told him it would take MONTHS for him to get it done...MONTHS and he is still waiting after 4 months. if they cant get it done , he should be referred to a civilian doctor and have the va pay for it until they are caught up.......costlier to them im sure check your pm sent you something |

the comic part is that ive read these SAME people get bonuses while we wait for medical care for MONTHS in many cases...i use a sleep apnea machine and when i reached the level where i could get another one from the VA they told me that i should provide them with the study i had a few years earlier or it would take a LONG time for me to get a study done with the VA....seems to be a common occurence...i didnt use to feel that way but now i do...MONTHS waiting for a sleep apnea study? of course I went thru the hoops and got the paper work to them and presto i got my machine....took me longer to drive there (20minutes) than it took me to get my briefing on the new machine and leave from their (always packed) parking lot. |

The American Legiion has called for several top level VA resignations over this. It sure helps when things get public. There are too many secrets and ways to keep them that way. |

according to my local paper (AP) the Dept of Vet Affairs has rejected the call for his resignation...... Obviously his "leadership" is lacking.....my guess is that he will get a promotion out of this and a bonus at the end of the fiscal year and THEN he will "retire" ... |

I read the article and it speaks of an independent investigation. I dont believe it said WHO would be doing it.....if its in house investigation it will be a waste of money/time. Nonetheless the head of the VA needs to go. It happened on his watch....he needs to go. |

i am fortunate to have private insurance ... my wife obviously cant have VA medical care so for her benefit we kept the private insurance from my previous employer at a 500.00+ per month. Soon she was going to be eligible for Medicare and the plan was for her to be on Medicare and me to cancel the private health insurance but NOW that wont be happening....ill keep paying the 500+ dollars a month and use the private insurance as my primary in case something serious happens to us and ill use the VA as a back up. I have lost confidence in the VA healthcare system for any major illness i may have in the future it all comes down to piece of mind for me |
