It is with a very heavy heart that I must share the loss of our platoon leader Lt (26) Crockett (Cap) Proffitt.
LT Proffitt served in Vnam from 02/68 to 02/69. Lt Proffitt was the real deal and he will be dearly missed by us.

RIP Lt Proffitt

If sending a condolence card, email me at namratsathotmaildotcom for the family address

Cant figure out how to post pics without the link

A few years ago we reconnected and theman would NOT fess up how old he was...i came to find out that he was 19yrs young and a 2nd Lt in charge of some 30 yrs in his platoon.
At the time he was 2 yrs younger than i was (21)....i thought he was early 20s at least.  Like many of us, he walked the walk and talked the talk.  I have no doubt that due to his leadership in the field most of us came back home alive.

Its crazy on how a guy who was only part of my life only 6 months (due to his rotation) has affected me when he passed away.

PS if anyone landed on LZ West after Sept 68 he was the guy in charge of the chopper pad...i dont know the "official" title...might have seen a tall skinny officer.

May he rest in Peace.  Frenchie, I didn't realize all officers rotated out after 6 months.  I always thought that privlege was just for field grade, Maj, Col, Gen......
