Frenchie,  I believe that's 170 grams of carbs.   That equals about 12 carbs.  I would think that would be too low although I am not a medical expert by any means.  My doctor wants me to have around 225 to 255 grams a day.  If you can keep it at 170 grams you will lose weight.  Keep us posted.

Discussed it with my dietician (spouse) at home and youre right..its 170 grams of carbs per day...that number was given to us by the VA dietician...next time i go there it will be one of my questions ....
according to the scale ive lost 15 pounds in the last couple weeks...i only eats what is in front of me...lots of water, diet soda, lots of jello...no ice cream, no bread, no mash potatoes...in other words...no good stuff...lol...but they told me that on occasion i can splurge.

I was thinking the same thing, Joe.  I've noticed that there had not been any posts for much longer than usual and I thought the system was jammed.  But it looks like Frenchie is right and  it is working. I guess it was just a prolonged slow period with no posts.    Try to keep cool, Frenchie.  Its nice and balmy here in SW Florida, only 90 or so &  humidity to match.    A safe and happy 4th to all!  Enjoy it nd have fun!

Hey Carl:
im getting to be a wimp in my golden years....just SITTING outside in the shade with my buddy wore me out !!!! I couldnt wait for him to leave and go inside..the heat kicked my tail...was in the shade and had ice water in my big 32OZ cup...

In regards to the diabetes I want to say that every thing is looking good....On July 10 they will check my eyes and make sure there is no dammage...Previously they took pictures and "measured" the eye...and in August Im due for a blood test to check out the numbers "officially".
When i started i was 257 LBS ...now im around 235 LBS - 237LBS (depending on the day).
Weight is coming down but not fast enough....VA gave me a sugar (?) measuring device.  Per their instructions i test myself on Mondays before eating.  They told me to check only once a week for now....My last number is 111...."normal" according to their literature is between 90-130 (before a meal)...so, im not quite there but i m they will be satisfied- for now.
I do ride my bike 5-10 miles a day....i do it 4-5 times a week...family members have noticed my weight loss...

MOnday , Tuesday and Wednesday we are getting out the heat...we are going to the Central California coast down the road from Hearst Castle...The weather difference is like day and night....here in beautiful Fresno it is going to be 109 on M,T, W and in the Mid 80s at night...by next Sunday there will be a COOLING trend...we will down to 97F
Over there it will be 73F-77F during the day and in the mid 50s at night....usually there is a fog that goes away around noon...we are taking light jackets....

Thank you for asking...i am putting it out there for guys who for whatever reason never got tested for Diabetes II
Filed the claim for the Diabetes II....i never got confirmation that they got it...so i called them and they confirmed that its in the system...
Getting this under control is NOT simple and it takes a lot of work...i am getting used to it...sorta...credit goes to my dietician (my wife) ...she tries different things on the "menu" not that im the kind of guy to make "demands"....but i give her ALL the credit

Just turned around and looked at my remote Thermometer and it read 109F (2:25 PM) and i know it will be prob ably 112F at the peak time of the day (4 ISH PM).  The GOOD thing is that humidity is 24% and we have no insect flying around to b ug us...

Hi Frenchie,  congratulations on your progress with the diabetes.  You have the right attitude and are doing a great job.  Keep up the good work and you will be down to the weight you want before long. Its definitely a goal worth striving for and achieving.  I'm sure you will reach it, especially with your wife's help.   Enjoy your time, and the weather, along the coast. That  sounds perfect.  Have a great time!

Great job, Frenchie.  Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows how difficult it can be when you get older.  Recently, I spent a week in Bar Harbor, Maine and put on about 10 pounds.  I've been back for 2 weeks and can't lose a pound.  I've been around 205 for about 2 weeks now.  I've rarely been over 200 and the battle goes on.  Keep up the good work and the discipline that you are showing.  111 is a good number.  I've been having some low sugar numbers around lunch.  One day it was 64 and last Friday I nearly passed out at the grocery store.  I have work to do also but I'm sure it will be ongoing.  Oh by the way, it's in the upper 70's here again with some rain.  Last year by this time, we had around 8 or 10 days of 90 degree weather and none so far this year.  Been cool and rainy.  Not complaining though!!!  Keep us posted.
