Do you want to save your pictures on your computer or cd's ? you dont think you can do it? i use a regular scanner and its not that hard but there is another scanner that is friendlier to use...i bought my wife one for christmas...i got it from Costco and it was 69 dollars. It will do FILM, SLIDES, PICTURES...you can even tweak the pictures !!
However they are out of stock currently but keep it in mind for the future... here is the link to the scanner.
http://www.costco.com/ImageBox.....er&storeId=10301
I checked the specs out and it looks to me as if it will do a decent job....the GREAT about Costco is that if you give it shot and for whatever reason you dont like it? you get a full refund at the store. Yes i know Costco is not everywhere but i ordered mine by mail...the price was right for sure |

My brother's wife uses a scanner for my old Vietnam pictures and some kind of device specifically for slides. The scanner works great, making the slides digital is a little time consuming, but they come out pretty good. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a very healthy, peaceful and enjoyable NEW year! |

Merry Christmas to you as well Bob. Initially for whatever reason i was SCARED to use a full size scanner..i had it for 2 years before i decided to try it. It came with the slide adapter andi had primarily slides. It is more time consuming but the results are fantastic because most scanners have come with software to make your pictures like new again. The one i posted is a lot simpler to use and the results should be very noticeable and it should be a lot faster....very much like a photocopy machine.
My scanner is a Canon 8400F...i am sure they sell a newer version of the same thing.. A full size scanner is not that expensive anymore.....in general , id say under 100 dollars |

Thanks for the info, Frenchie. They just recently opened a new Costco right up the road from me. My brother and his wife belong and they stop in about once a week. I'll have to check it out. Like you, I have mostly slides. There is still a couple trays that have to be done. I have no idea how to do that kind of thing, I'm way behind most people in my computer abilities. Luckily, my brother's wife is at the other end of the spectrum! |

Bob, i know that feeling very well but i think (like myself) you probably underestimate your potential with computers at least. I can say that i was terrified to try that scanner...i dont know why and i do have some computer knowledge... I just want to add that this machine may not be on display at your local Costco....it maybe an online only item...they do that . |

Frenchie, thanks again for the info & pep talk. Contrary to popular belief, I do think you can teach an old dog new tricks, so, I might as well give it a go! |

I have to do that and I don't even have that many slides. My all-in-one machine took a shit but still scans great. I generally only use it for documents though. Damn printers anyway.....use them and they kill you with the cost of ink, then if you dont' use them......... they dry up and cost more to fix than buying a new one. |

Fletch, my problem with printers has been the cost of ink - whether or not i use the darn printer.
Soooo, a while back i made the conscious decision to get rid of my color printer and get a b/w laser printer.....so i switched and never looked back...wanna print color pictures? i put them on a flash drive and go to wal mart....thats it.. That B/W ink is a lot cheaper and it does not dry up while not being used.
a B/W laser printer runs anywhere from 50-100 dollars .. mine is a Brother Printer...I recomend the wireless printer and if you print a lot? consider the Dual Side printer option (for an additional cost of course)
