Any Artillery folks out there who may have been assigned to Firebase Debbie-Chu Lai Area in 1971... Not sure of the unit but it was a mix of 105/155.. This is my first posting, I have requested my military records to find out what units I was assigned or attached to.. I was in the 3-82 Arty but for the most part I was attached out to 4-31 and 1-46 Inf as a Recon Sgt/FO..Cpt Oliver was one Commander I can remember. I first arrived at Chu Lai in 1971, later they moved us to Da Nang and I was there until 1-46 was standing down in 1972.. Last mission we were on had half the folks and told to expand all ammo as the birds were in bound. Shot everything we had until the barrals were red..Birds got socked in and delayed in we were out with no ammo, made alot of noise..and no place to hide. More later if this works.. Jack from Kansas |

It's taken me a long time contact anyone. Can't remember any names as I was loaned out so much. I have several pictures taken in the bush and when we came in for our refit/rest..Some soldiers may know some of the Soldiers in my photos.I could send by email. Not sure how to add pictures to this. I'm sure I was attached to C-1-46 Inf my last months in country. I also have to start finding my way into my First Tour in 1968 when I was assigned to the 1st Field Force in Pleiku and Dakto Area..... Thanks Frenchie, I've read many of the posts looking for a few Soldiers who may help jog my memory (getting old) of events and things that happened that I can relate too. You old-timers have the key for us newbies wanting to get started. I have joined the 196th Organization and looking forward to anyone who can share. |

I have spoken with the owner of this business http://www.tacoma-trains.com/ a couple of times and he lamented the fact of the 1/46 guys being moved around to a lot of units. He was also not much affiliated with any other vets due to that. |
